Pasche du Ciel Rouge SchH3 FH
certified hearing dog
[3/24/98 - 2/21/07]
Pasche passed away quietly on Feb 21, 2007. She was my first competitive sport dog, and
my first Malinois.
Pasche is out of Duc du Creux Thatcher x Chusca du Lescaut. I co-owned
her with Augusta. I really had no idea what I was getting into. To say that Pasche was an
active dog is a huge understatement. This dog was revved all the time. She was a competent
excape artist, and part cat I think. She could walk on narrow ledges, had no fear of culvert
pipes, or tight spaces. Needless to say I began looking for things to keep her channeled in
the right direction. I had always been interested in protection sports, and decided that
Pash might have some potential. Another understatement.
On April 4, 2004 Pasche earned her SchH1 at the Rocky Mountain Great Plains Regional. She
was High Schutzhund 1 under Judge Johannes Grewe.
During this time period I was training director for National Hearing Dogs of NM. Pasche
had natural ability as a hearing dog, so I began to train her for my demonstration dog.
Pasche really knew how to work an audience, and got many laughs and applause showing off
her sound alerts with alarm clocks, smoke detectors, oven timers and cell phones. At home,
she was always on the job alerting to the teakettle, alarm clock and microwave. She even
alerted to a leaking hot water heater in the closet. If she hadn’t told me, it would
have been a huge mess to clean up!
She completed SchH2 and 3 in 2005, and on March 24, 2006 she earned her FH1 under Judge
Harald Hohman on her eighth birthday. She got to come in the clubhouse and have a cheeseburger
with us that day!
Pasche still was not ready to retire, so we began training in Mondioring. Shortly after
that Pasche became ill with a liver ailment that cut her working career short.
Pasche was a one of a kind dog, and her potential was not wasted. She had a willing and
eager spirit that was ready for any task set before her. Many thanks to Augusta for placing
such a wonderful dog with me.
